So great to view! These two are definitely bonded and beautiful, trying to get even more so.
Love the big crullers that add some kind of flowing feeling to this beautiful presentation, so nicely presented in black and white!

This is just adorable! Such a precious moment you have captured here! The mother and daughter at the beauty shop, the curlers in their hair give this a nostalgic feel, no matter where my eyes travel over this scene, they come right back to the adorable pose of this mom and her little girl sharing this special moment! I like the black and white rendering, I see good tones throughout this image. Well focused, this image is clear, lighting is well managed, well composed and presented! Very best wishes to you in this contest! This was truly a pleasure to view!

Thank you, Pat! I appreciate the valued review and insights. So glad this portrait caught your eye. I'm glad that nostalgia came across. My hairdresser and I have been planning this shot in black and white for years before she was even married or had kids. It made both our days and was such fun to create. :) Lisa

that norman rockwell capture..so sweet...so special..a picture that paints a thousands words that doesnt need to be written...its felt..wink. these are the kinds of special moments that i like to draw. no i dont want to copy it..but ill will create something like it down the line..thanks for this inspiration..wink. the clarity is excellent. the angle of the shot of that special woman moment that will last in memories forever is excellent. the capture of the light is excellent. the image is well balanced and very eye appealing to the viewer. it saddens me that im out of 6's but at least honor you for this capture by doing this...(STANDING CLAPPING AND CHEERING) WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Family shots don,t have to be boring, and this certainly is not,i love the connection between the two in this,i do wonder if trimming a tad of either side so that it just focuses on the mother/daughter in this would be better, but still giving it a six because i love the b/w feel in this, good one this..Brian

I agree! I find a candid journalistic approach w my clients really brings out a natural flow of character and emotion with their interact as if not even at a shoot and it sometimes rekindles interactions that might have gone by the wayside with day to day routine. It?s the experience more so that they walk away with than just the photos.

Beautiful image. It truly captures a loving and charming moment between the two. I love how the lighting is soft but keeps the subject in focus while everything in the background is blurred but lovely shapes. Great shot!

Beautiful and so Adorable!
I truly love black & white Photography. I find it more emotive and it draws you in more. I like the High key like lighting in the background and sweetness of the pose of mom and her angel girl.
Beautiful work Lisa ;)
I find changing the setting to monochrome in camera really works well to get a black and white without having to edit a color shot into it.

:) Thank you, so much! I'm glad these two caught your eye. I'm honored with the high rating and valued feedback always! I agree, it's amazing how much black and white can change the mood, contrast, light impressions and structure of an image. I've considered shooting straight in monochrome at times but if you saw the incredible beauty of color in the original of this shot you would understand my reluctance to not leave the door open to give my clients multiple perspectives of each shot framed. Inevitably they purchase both versions, especially when they have the added choice to have me print in metallic. Metallic with the right tonalities is just amazing! I actually find it a challenge and quite enjoyable to convert from color to black and white. It's like tuning contrast and light in finite ways that's so edgy sometime. It's a completely different picture or world in color. I think black and white lends strength of depth and dimension in ways that color limits, yet color can be so mesmerizing. And then there's Sepia....... my ultimate favorite.

Agree.. I would do both color and monochrome. I take everything in color and if I see something may make a great B&W I switch to monochrome. Only reason I do it is I find I can control white balance better. Black and white does not work on all subjects. In wildlife I mostly use it on white birds but still take the bird in color.
Digital allows us to see our work right away.
