Kaiser is a very handsome and smart boy! Lovely shot with the white background and gray stone, and the far off mountain in the background is beautiful.

lovely portrait of your dog. I generally avoid family and pets, as what can one say- they are wonderful. But Pat, how do dogs keep the cold from going into their legs from such small paws? I read this on the subject-While we humans need to wear thick socks and insulated boots to prevent frostbite, the circulatory system in the paws of our dogs has adapted to allow them to handle the cold. It amazes me in a place as cold as Alaska, but wolves and bears must be the same?

Thank you so much! My dogs can comfortable be out doors during winter , of course when the temperature drops to zero and below F , I don?t let them be out very long, they also make dog booties and a special salve that protects their paws, the Iditarod Sled dogs wear booties.

Lovely dog. I think Kaiser is getting use to posing as a subject. Good companion.
Like the expression on his face, so patient. Good details and focus. Nice variation of colors in the background on the stones.
The snow adds a chill to this
winter scene. Good exposure.
Nice shot.

Is he the dog in the picture of you and a dog? I think German Shepherds are beautiful. This guy really stands out against the background. I'm assuming the ground is covered with snow. I love the snow on his nose. It appears as though he is quite curious.

Hi alaskapat

Wow. It's the background that makes this a smashing delight to the eyes. Looks like the dog's natural habitat although poorly camouflaged :D Thanks for sharing this. R
