Cleo, You got her right down to her smile. When I was in my teens my neighbors had a beagle named Bonnie, She was a doll! I have the feeling this beagle is just as wonderful. The detail in this is amazing! Perfect color match too! Absolutely Fantastic!! :o) Nancy

Lovely portrait here! The details you captured are make him seem so life like. The paint as nice movement in the sand with your stroke choice. The background isn't distracting, he is nicely placed within the frame, making for a nice composition. He is very well proportioned. The colours are very accurte! Truly a great piece, thanks for sharing

What realistic, beautiful digital painting. It really looks like a style of impressive, textured style of painting. Upon a closer look, with the artwork enlarged, one can almost touch the texture of the sky, greenery, and sands which are like a real-life impressionist painting, while the textures of the dog appear like real, acrylic painting/layers- of colored pencil, or pastel. Great job with several styles in one work.

Nice artwork! Good composition and very appealing. I love the sand on Ruby's nose. When I look at this, I feel like I'm on the beach, too. Good luck!

I was so sure I had reviewed this one before, but obviously not. Ruby is such a lovely dog, and I think you have managed so well to show her gentle nature. Especially the eye is well painted, and you have also brought out the fine textures of the fur. The textured background looks great and ruby is standing out from it in an excellent way.

The dog is painted paying such good attention to details. The brush work is very good, and you have used the high lights well.

The tight framing is perfect, and Ruby has got a fine placement on the canvas. I think this is a truly lovely and well done digital painting Cleo.

Cleo,

I'm not sure how you created this, but your friend's dog Ruby seems to pop off the page here.

I see around the eyes the photograph and then your artistic touches elsewhere.

Very impressive piece and I bet your friend loves this portrait of Ruby.

This is entirely painted. It is not an enhanced photo. My digital paint program [ArtRage] allows to paint like I would on canvas. It offers tools which are similar to traditional brushes, paints, etc.
It eve allows me to chose canvas structures and art papers. :o)

I thought at first this was a pet photograph. Then I noticed the painting background. Now I am curious, painting cum photo welded together? I know they can do alsorts and I with my 75 yrs stick to what I know best but I AM curios. Normally I never review family or pets as you would not dare say anything even slightly critical but in this case I just had to ask about the technique.

Thank you very much for your kind review.
This is not a manipulated photo. It is painted brush str0oke by brush stroke, similar to a traditional artwork. My program [ArtRage] provides digital tools which are similar to traditional tools. It even allows the to choose canvas and art-papers. The only difference is, that i move the tools on a touchpat. It is a bit like finger painting, but more complicated. :o)
