A beautiful bird and a very fine shot. I like the flat light and the snow in the air. The waxwing doesn't seem to be enjoying the cold and is all puffed up like he is wearing a down jacket.

I just love black and white and a monochromatic image as this. The color does not get in the way and you start to see shapes, forms and patterns. The diagonal branch adds interest to the scene. The background blur is perfect for highlighting the waxwing.

Very sharp image and the composition is spot one.

Well done.

Hi Pat,
I love the picture. We moved to Wasilla in October and haven't seen many birds in our area except chickadees and ravens and a few eagles. Down in Southeast there was a lot more diversity in the bird population. I'm hoping spring will bring a few others to the area here. Great picture.

Thank you very much Tom ! These birds come during winter to eat the mountain ash berries! I hope you will get some at your home in Wasilla!

Hello Pat, I 'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I'm still new to this site, and I'm getting used to the in's and out's of it. I've been scrolling though your pictures, you've got exceptional talent. Are you planning on putting out a book with some of your pictures by any chance?

Awesome capture and honestly speaking never seen this bird. Love the view of the bird on branch and light snow surroundings created a dreamy ambience. The light condition is well balanced with great focus on the bird and details on the body is nicely captured. Great shot.

This is a beautiful Bohemian bird looking peaceful as it rest on the branch of the Moutain Ash. NIce to view the facial details and the hidden colors on the bird. Good focus, clarity and placement.
And, nice technique.
Pleasing to view.

A delightful capture of this Bohemian Waxwing on the Branch of your tree. He is beautifully fluffed up and ohh so soft looking as he takes a rest with the snow falling. he has such lovely markings of red, yellow and black and blends in so well with the grey background. Another wonder to view!
