A very nice closeup of this common water snake. I like the diagonal placement of the snake in the frame and the fine details in his scaly skin. Best of luck in the contest.

There is a saying, that the faster I go, the more behind I get! I think that's where I am now. I'm a little behind with my thank you notes. I just want you to know Mike, how much I appreciated your great review and wishes for the contest. Thank you so much! :o) Nancy

Hi Mark, I did manage to get a 3rd place win so I'm a very happy camper! Thanks for the great review! :o) Nancy

PS. I'm still gathering images to write about Fred's incredible adventures abroad. My computer's kind of slow so it might take a while. I have only gotten to page ten. I have to get by all the ducks, geese and so forth. I knew Fred had some awesome images of the lovely places he's traveled to, but it's a journey getting to them. I'm planning to create a story book so I can refer to the places Fred's been and create some lovely word imagery. Just wanted you to know I'm on the job. :o)

Hi Nancy,
This a great photograph of the snake that lives in the water.
I did not know that they can get this big. I hope they do not do anything to people since we are big.
I saw rattlesnake the other day while I was searching for photograph of flowers. I left the scene really fast, not looking back or thinking about taking a photograph - until I was back in the locked car.

Great details, colors and diagonal composition.
Thank you for sharing this image and good description.

Hi Jirina, I can safely say this snake is not poisonous! I have never seen a rattlesnake, but I'm sure I'd have the same reaction you did! Thank you so much for the great review! :o) Nancy

A very good looking nature shot posted here! Looks like and sounds like a big snake. Like it's patterned back and shiny head. Glad it's not close to me! Exposure and sharpness are good. Well done and good luck!

At Least I can say the snake is not poisonous! I moved in as close as I could to get the shot. I wasn't scared, but I didn't want to scare it away! Thanks for the great review Nik! :o) Nancy

Your photo is excellent focused and exposed and has good depth. I enjoy the realism of color and light and the refinement of textures and detail. The reflections at the scales of the body and the head are especial interesting. Your PoV is perfect. It allows the viewers to observe the back and the belly of the animal. The Snake is expertly placed into the frame. The diagonal presentation warrants a good balance of composition. The photo is perfect framed.
