Around here mallards don't eat fish. They will gather round to steal a bit of the crane's corn though. A very nice shot. I like the spread wings of the heron and the way the mallards are scurrying.

great action shot of these three birds.I particularly like the composition and structure as you've captured the event head on and I can only imagine that you used a continual shoot format on your camera to achieve a clear iamge as the movement would be fast and furious as the ducks flee for their safety

Fred,
A brilliant Stop action picture of the Grey Heron chasing off the Mallard duck & drake. The drank is running, the duck just taking off from a running start while the Heron is flapping it's wings as it runs along the shore threatening to kill them given the chance! Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
