Really like the close crop, a unique angle and presentation that works well with his particular pose. Juvenile mallard or not, couldn't say for sure but still a fun image1

I am not for sure, but I think it might be a immature male Mallard still growing his green feathers. This is a great closeup! It is in good focus with so much amazing detail! Great discovery! I love nature too, and find myself doing the same thing, it is my favorite way to get pictures! GREAT job!

I know very little about ducks,Nancy,so I don't have any idea about what this specimen's 'story' might be!
Your 'dappled' portrait photo of it makes for an interesting picture though! : )

Awe, he's beautiful and it appears that he is an immature mallard drake in the process of getting his fabulous green feathers on his head.
He appears to be enjoying a rest in the sunlight.
Nice close capture allowing such a good look at his feathers and face.
Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is correct, colors snd tones appear natural.
I appreciate the clear eye complete with a nice catch light.
Well composed and presented!

A very good looking nature shot posted here! Yes, your fine composition offers us an enjoyable view of your dozing mallard. I see many mallards in our district of the UK and I feel your lovely photo has got a female mallard. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well taken!

Hi Nik, I think your wrong about this being a female mallard. Females don't have the lovely green. Thanks for trying to help though! Appreciate your great review to. Glad you enjoyed! :o) Nancy

This bird is handsome. I believe it is an immature Mallard in the process of changing to mature plumage. The pose of the bird is interesting. The Mallard seems indeed at ease with the camera. Your photo is perfect focused and exposed and has good depth. I appreciate the realism of color and light and the refinement of texture and detail. The light reflection in the eye and the metallic glare at the green mature feathers is especial interesting. The Mallard is excellent placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

I replied to your PM :o) and am waiting to hear from Fred to see if he Liked what I did! I think of it as... When you MKFlood create an image for one of your daughters or grandchildren, you might post it here BUT... the person you really care about hearing from is your daughter or grandchild!.... Knowing you loved what I did meant everything, but I so would love to know what Fred has to say too!
.....Thanks for the great review on my duck! Have a Great Fourth of July weekend My Friend! :o) Nancy
