so i see what you mean about others not wanting to review your pictures. You are a professional here and have your whole series and nothing bad can be said cause they are wonderful. So maybe we can do one on a double bicycle or skate boarding with their petals catching wind.

Hi Mark,I just reviewed a new breathtaking painting by Lucas Sizov. I don't know how to paint but I know something lovely when I see it. I recognize the skill it takes to create something like that! When you create your Funny flowers, ( besides knowing how to draw) you bring out humor that touches the funny bone! I've seen emotion come right off the page in your illustrations! What else do I have to know than what I see? You probably have no idea how I create? Neither do I! LOL You judge by what you see and how well you think the person did. I'm thrilled you like what I do! ....I love this Funny flower because you introduced a flower that I haven't seen you use before! I like the interaction between the flowers! I like the humor! I love the way you draw! It takes precision to do what you do!
You and Lucas are two different kinds of artists but both of you have a special and unique gift in what you create! I'm a photographer and mixed media artist, what do I know about art? I only know I like what I see! Love what you do! :o) Nancy

Hi Mark, I actually read your artists notes, so I wanted you to know there are photographers and mixed media artists here who do review artists, cartoonists, illustrators, plus anything else that is creative! Thought you needed some positive ViBeS !!!! I guess certain artists just want to review in their own bailiwick! Don't think we can ever make them cross over that line! :o) I know I'm grateful for the ones that do! :o) When the creative bug bit me I got a severe case of creativity! :o) Just wanted you to know there are creative people here who are always eager to enjoy all kinds of artistic endeavors and review them!! :o) Love your flower named Spike!!!! :o) :o) :o) Nancy

I think photographers feel more comfortable reviewing photos because they are familiar with the challenges involved in taking good pictures. However I enjoy looking at art and comment on it when I can.
Spike looks like an Allium which is one of my favorite flowers.

I think it was Lucien who said to a fellow member that found it difficult to review art, that a photo or a painting need very much the same qualities to be good. The color pallet has to be attractive, the pictured needs a center of interest, and the composition needs to be balanced. I also think most photographers have paintings or drawings on their wall that they like a lot. And they should know why.
When all that is said, I like the idea of one of your sweet flowers have spikes, instead of petals. Ok, also the spikes are some sort of petal, and since the spikes in this case are purple, it could be an allium, or perhaps a thistle ? The flower does anyway look rather cute with the spikes.
What I like so much with your flower drawing is how expressive their faces are, and how well their "body" language is working.
I like the limited color pallet in this drawing, and also the white background you have created. The format and framing is very good, and the two flowers are well placed on the paper. I think this is a cute, funny and well done sharpie drawing Mark.

i truly believe that the cartoonist has about a second or two to translate to the viewer what the jest of this skit is. if the cartoonist has to explained what he has drawn then the skit is a failure. my belief..wink. thanks AV for the awesome review.

Good notes and comments. Yes we artists can get ideas from photos, akso what we take ourselves. Your photographs of your art posts are well taken never looking blurred. This particular piece is delightful and funny. I see a Daisy girl and a Chrysanthemum permed bigger girl. Love it. Colours are flower truthful..

Your comments are telling and should be heeded by all of us who are blessed with these capabilities but do not adhere to them. Your cartoon "funny flower" and the declarative question is truly interesting!

I view art just like I review photos.Do you like it? How does the art make you feel? I can tell if an artist is genuine or just another want be. Copying a technique from one artist and saying it is mine is wrong. It is alright to try to emulate your style. That happens all the time in art as in music. Good art as in music is all subjective too. I like it someone might not. So to say they don't know how to rate or review it are people you don't want reviewing your work. They have their heads up the rear.

Your drawing is simple yet it catches the eye. I like how you used the leaves as arms to show human-like expression. The thing I might change is the white background to a different pastel color. Best of luck in the competition!
