Awwww....I love this and the sweet story that goes along with it. I have some very missed pets also that have passed on so I can relate to the feelings this gives. Sweet looking pups. Congratulations on the win!

What a lovely portrayal of your three dogs, now together at the Rainbow Bridge playing happily with each other. Definitely deserving of the first place win, such a wonderful tribute to three gentle souls. Your artists notes were fantastic in describing each sweet dog. Congrats !

This was my choice for the best in the contest. It turned out to be a wonderful presentation and captured the first place ribbon.

The various poses are very heart warming and look like dogs I have known.

Congratulations on your contest win.

This is a great work of art putting your three dogs one painting. I thought it was a photograph. You c caught them at their best and put them together well.

These dogs are adorable and I can see why you wanted to get them all in one image together. You did a wonderful job on this! Congratulations on your all time best status.

Very cool idea, doing a drawing of all the family dogs from the past. Very good composition, and the drawings of the dog look like you hit the mark with proportions and perspective. I like the tones, shades, and hightlites on the dogs. Especially the white dog fur. Congrats on your win! :)

Thank you, thank you, David. This is really an honor coming from an artist such as yourself and such an excellent animal artist. And thanks for the "6". Really needed that; it all means so much. I originally meant to draw all this with colored pencil but first made the mistake of gessoing the plaque black so I had to add some acrylic to Happy in order for the color pencil to adhere more. I was hoping to later submit the piece to a color pencil magazine I belong to, but hadn't finished this time. Ninety percent has to be color pencils with them. I have learned, more and more as time goes on.

I love the difference in colors and the eyes show the curiosity and playfulness in their hearts, even when still. I can tell the love you had for them from the commitment to creating this memory.

Thank you. Why the lower rating?

Honestly, I'm just new to this site and wasn't sure if I should start off with a 5 for my very first review. I do feel it's a wonderful depiction of them. When I first saw the initial image asking for reviews I thought it was a photo you had taken when I scanned it.

Thank you. I have gone back and rerated several so if you wish you may. I do some of my paintings like a photo but they are not. I did this mostly in colored pencil but because I had made the mistake of gessoeing it black it took forever to get the white on Happy, so I applied so acrylic to him, then completed the rest.

How skillful in multiple ways to get these three beloved canines into the same scene with no sign that it wasn't always like this. I'm amazed at what you went through to create this homage to your three dogs. Well done. Thanks for sharing.

You are welcome and thank you for your nice true comments in the process. God helped me not to tear up so much because they each were so special. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness.

This is a wonderful tribute to your sweet dogs. Haven't had dachshunds, but have had a terrier. Looks like they are / were fun and loving additions to your family. I love how you have presented them. Great artwork!
