I really like the close and personal approach, and it is also a lovely entry into a contest like this. It is the cone of the cone flower being the most impressive part, so I like that it is your focus.
The photo is sharp and it is clear and well defined details to be seen in every part of the flower. The exposure and white balance is perfect.
The tight cropping is fine, but personally I would have left more space at the top, an cropped more at the bottom. This is a lovely and well taken photo with a very good DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Your close up is impressive. The photo has good depth, and is excellent focused and exposed, and treated with mixed media. I appreciate the refinement of detail and the realism of light and color. The white balance is perfect. Although, the composition is balanced, the crop is too tight in my opinion, because the cone touches almost the upper margin. I believe that a bit space between the cone and the frame would make your composition even more attractive.

A nice contest entry with such a close up letting us admire all the fine details of this flower. special idea to focus just on the flower center, but at the same time we can perfectly imagine the white leaves until their end - clear and sharp with perfet contrast and lighting

Love Cone Flowers they are so upside down to every other flower. Your composition is tight, possibly would have allowed a little more room on top as that is the main focus of the image. The center of flower is sharply focused and the petals below are done with good exposure and white balance.
