Steller?s Jay

Hello Pat, I haven't been on here for awhile. I had been down in Southeast for the fishing season and when I got back I had kind of forgotten about it. I haven't seen any Stellar Jays since I've been here. Wasilla isn't so far from Anchorage, so I don't know why not. We have lots of them in Hoonah. Nice job. Thanks for taking care of him. They can be a nuisance, but they're beautiful.

Your capture of the bird is exquisite. The photo is excellent focused and exposed and has good depth. I enjoy the realism of color and light and the refinement of detail. The light reflections at the wing, the tail and the eye are especial interesting. The soft green background emphasizes the bird perfectly. The photo is well framed. The bird has a good placement at the left of center. The composition is balanced.
I also like the story of the bird very much. How you treated the bird teach, the viewers what to do in a similar emergency situation.

Beautiful image of the bird with sharp focus on the eye and the colors are stunning against the dappled background. The information of his recovery was very interesting and pleased he is now looking and sounding so much better.

The birds pose combined with the soft contrast of the background against the birds high contrast colors is striking and attention getting - it grabs you.
Camera technique captures all the angles and feather lines in high detail. The eye is sharp with good catch lights, the beak is sharp with fine edge detail- well done.
Lighting is even and complimentary.
I wonder if playing with the Shadow and Black sliders might provide more detail of the neck feathers?
Overall a fine portrait, and with an excellent story.... Bob P. B-))

Such a beautiful bird,so glad it was able to recover, with your help, from whatever mishap befell it. Having wildlife we know become ill is very distressing; we had a fawn in let fall that was lying under our deck, something we normally see only in the summer. We left food next to the deck;in the evening it came out and lay close to the house all night,I was quite certain it wasn't going to survive. Fortunately i was wrong, after about a week it finally started joining up with the rest of the deer and seemed okay. A very beautiful photo of this gorgeous bird, like the open beak, bright eye and beautifully colored plumage, hope it stays well and continues to visit you!

Thank you so much LeeAnn! I appreciate your support! I was just so happy that this bird recovered and continues to visit my back deck every day since. It?s sad when they have problems, it?s so sad to see them in distress!

A beautiful bird and a very nice shot. The detail in the dark plumage is excellent and his sparkling eye makes it look like he has recovered. A fine composition with great colors.

Really nice capture of the jay. Love the blues in it and your nice blurred background as well as the deck with its nice subtle shadows and light upon it. Very interesting story and depiction of the events that you did a fine job relaying.

Love this, and absolutely love 'Just Before the Sunrise'! Wanted to comment on both but to be honest I didn't have that many characters to write.
This is absolutely magnificent, you almost seemed to capture an expression on his face! And for Just Before Sunrise, it was just beautiful!
Thank you as always.
