Evidently when the waggons were rolling West, when the travellers saw this they took heart, as they knew they were getting there. Or was it a copy rock of this. It was on tv. Amazing rock formation. I'll bet they try to climb that.

Monument valley is beautiful. You have a nice image of this rock. The colors are nicely done. It looks like a hand with two fingers making the peace sign.

nik,
A beautiful & interesting picture of this natural rocky outcrop that looks like a foot with only the big tow & it's immediate neighbour still remaining . Over countless centuries the action of frost, friction by sand borne in the wind & rain bit by bit eating into the rock breaking them down eventually turning them into gravel & sand. The long white vehicle on the road gives scale to the Outcrop.
Good luck in the contest.
Susan

You have a good eye to pick out that building in such a desolate spot! Makes you wonder where they get supplies. Great picture of monument valley. The sky looks like a sandstorm is building. Good work!

Love the purply colored Monument and extension. The sky with the purply slithers is nice enough and the ground, middle- and foregrounds with the browns and yellows are fairly nice too.

Nice to see that some things don't change much. By that quip I mean you always had a skilled knack for getting the most out of a minimal color palette. If I am not mistaken I count three contrasting color variations. I love how the color progression from lower third to top third compliment and enhance each other. An excellent demonstration of the 'Rule of Thirds' via minimal color variation as opposed to object balance.

I think what really gives this piece its punch is the cloudy sky, it gives the viewer a real, a palpable sense of being alone. I can imagine myself standing on that rise looking at this scene - "Same today as it was yesterday and the day before, just me and them organ pipes."

Sharp detail in the rock formation juxtaposed against a big sky cloud cover, makes the stone monument stand out but not dominate thanks to a careful use of foreground. The soft reflection of the rocks color off of the clouds give this piece measurable depth.

This is an excellent piece of American Landscape Photography. I see a well composed and balanced piece. When I first looked at this shot I immediately got a sense of being drawn into and becoming part of this landscape - the shot works, man. Bob P. B-)

That is a hell of a place to park a trailer. A great shot though. I like the composition and the fine detail in the butte. Excellent colors and a treat to see.

Having spent some time in the red rock of Arizona and felt like I belonged there, I feel like I just landed on a foreign planet here. Something feels very off with the color, the composition
, and the spot where my eye keeps going is to that ugly trailer. I'm sorry, but that's how I feel.
