This flower center looks indeed like jewellery made for a queen. It looks like a brooch made from gold and adored with little pearls which send spikes of silver-light into the night. The red petals seem to symbolize the royal dress. Your photo is excellent focused, exposed, and treated with mixed media. I enjoy the sharpness of detail. The brooch is perfect placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

I have always claimed that every flower is a jewel in nature, and here is the proof. The center of this red flower indeed looks like one, made in gold and small diamonds. I especially like the all dark background at the top, and the hint of the red petals at the bottom.
The jewel us standing out sharp and well defined against this background, and the exposure is perfect. The colors are just beautiful.
I also like the way you have cropped the photo, and also the centered placement of the flower. A truly lovely and well taken photo Steve, and I wish you luck with the contest.
