Those two apparently like each other. It looks as if they want to kiss with the top of their beaks. Your photo has good depth and is excellent focused and exposed. I enjoy the refinement of detail and the realism of light and color. The colors of the plumage and the beaks is attractive. The birds are perfect placed within the frame. The diagonal presentation pleases the eyes of the viewers. The photo is well composed and framed. The composition is balanced.

Beautiful capture of these two lovely birds. Amazing that the baby chick is nice looking at such a young age, looks like a smaller bird of the Mother. Beautiful blues/purples in these two Swamphens.

Hi Mary!
What an interesting ( and attractive! ) picture this is,my friend!
These colorful birds made me think of 'The Caring Mother Reptile' ( the long extinct Maiasaura ) of the late Cretaceous who built large 'dens' for their chicks and supplied them with food until they'd grown large enough to forage in (relative ) safety for themselves!
'Good Show',my friend!

Thanks Sean - must admit some of our birds do look prehistoric, we have a Friarbird on the east coast that looks very much the bird from long ago.

This is such an incredible scene , it's wonderful that you captured both parents as well as that precious chick, it's interesting to see how different the swamp hen baby looks as compared to its parents, it's also interesting that both parents look alike, studying this image is so interesting , I like the interaction between parents and the way the chick stays under mom , it is truly amazing to watch nature in action, to know that the parents will be extra careful when stepping around the little one because of their big feet..
I love the deep blue color of the swamp hens and that red beak and the way it extends up on their heads, love the red eyes!
This is a wonderful image Mary, it really tells the story well, it's fascinating to see ! Well composed and presented! Thank you so much for sharing this!
