This is so beautiful. Every tiny detail is shinning like its the star of the show! Even the photo bombing gnat! Great catch!! I'm loving the offset of the flower as it gives greater contrast to the background. Kudos to you my friend. Another truly amazing and beautiful shot!

Selective color process was one of the ways I used to portray small children back when I did such things.
This is classic framing and presentation. The detail in the blossom is sharp and the color appears natural and warm. Looking at the center structures I am curious about trying some macro sessions for myself. I really like how the close by unopened flower buds are sharp, as they should be. You avoided a common mistake with this technique. That is, B&W structures that are perceived to be on or about the same focal plane as the blossom must be as sharp as the blossom - congrats, you nailed it.

Thank you so much Bob, your excellent review is much appreciated! I will admit that I do not have a macro lens so spent quite a bit of time learning how to use a long distance lens at close range to achieve macro style shots. It takes a bit of concentration on focusing but I feel pretty good about the results of this shot and am grateful for your supportive comments! :-) Jodi~ Way West

The flower is just lovely it appears to be delicate , I see good detail in top petals and in the center . The flower is well placed within the frame and immediately draws the eye.
Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is good, colors and tones appear natural in this light, I see good tonal variations in the black and white surroundings.
