This is a a classic beach and breaking waves photo shot just when the big roller breaks and the last one washes up toward the photographer. A fine contest winner!

First of all I wish to congratulate you for winning this contest. It is a fantastic looking sea scape you have pictured here, and you have captured so well the incoming crashing waves.

The photo is also sharp with clear and well defined details, and both the exposure and the white balance is perfect.

The format and framing is fine, and it is a good balance in the composition. A truly lovely and well taken photo Brenda, and with an excellent DOF.

Anne I am more than extremely happy and uplifted to get your review, comments and six stars. My feeling of honour when I won was swept away by this being slated in the forum this week. You have restored my faith. Thank you

Although I love to swim, I would not go near the beach there. The sand on shore might be treacherous. The rocks and the waves look dangerous. How the high splashing waves almost cover the rocks is impressive. Your photo has impressive depth and is excellent focused and exposed. I appreciate the realism of color and light and the refinement of detail. The seascape is well composed and framed. The composition is balanced.

Thank you for reviewing. You are right not to swim there, its forbidden, a treacherous wave force and height always. But beautiful sands and safe.

Very nice capture Brenda :)
Your shutter speed was high enough to stop the incoming breaking wave showing nice clarity and details. White balance was handled well with very minor brightness on the whites right of the breaking wave.
The hazy blue sky is beautiful and the colors of the water pop.
Nice work ;)

Thank you so much for your detailed review. It is helpful as I will look at the photo info to find my shutter speed then and the white balance. I notice on the larger screen the white is blown a bit where you say. Most helpful as always.

This is a beautiful scene for our viewing and as a reference for painting--would like to sea, and for the sea photo contest. I especially like that large wave toward the background. All of the middle ground is nice, the foreground ok. The darker blue against the lighter blue in the background is really nice too.

Great mood and atmosphere. You can feel the force of wind and sea.
Well, despite all the dramas, you came away with a very atmospheric shot. It looks a little wild out there and you did well to get that moody shot.

Every time I go to the ocean, I come back with so many photos! You have caught the wave in the perfect cascading position, crashing it's lovely music. I can almost hear it!

A good looking image posted here into the competition! Your fine and classical composition offers us an enjoyable view of the lovely seascape before you. Like those surging waves. Colours, textures and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

This is a good entry for this contest. I like the layers from the sand all the way out to show the rollers and the motion coming in from the deep part where it is a deep blue color.
Well captured with good stop of the motion. Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is correct, colors and tones appear natural.
Well composed and presented!
Best wishes to you in this contest!
