Pat I love this picture, you know I'm all about the birds. I'm kind of curious as to where you live that you have these kind of birds, because I live in Wisconsin. It almost looks like it's a part Bluejay part blackbird. Very nice composition of the picture I see why you got the award.

An excellent shot of a colorful jay family drama that could well have transpired as you suppose! Mama looks quite decided and baby does not look like she wishes to be thrown out to fend for herself!

Excellent capture, Pat, showing the beautiful mother and young Jay - yes, the young one does seem to be asking his mother to feed him. Glad that you put the extra peanuts out so that they both got some and the mother achieved her parenting skills. Very good camera techniques to show a lovely clear image. Great composition. Suzanne

They are such beautiful birds, love how you captured the juvenile still trying to beg food from one of the adults, I have seen this with some of our blue jays. The adult does look somewhat annoyed at being pestered, so it was a good move to put out peanuts so each could have some . Love their coloration, both are nicely focused and stand out well against the background foliage.

Thank you so much LeeAnn! I love these birds! They are so friendly and trusting! If there are no peanuts out there they will peck at the kitchen window or patio door!

Hahaha humans could learn a lot from nature instead of giving in to the kids all the time. Great composition and the color, lighting and focus are all good. You handled the black perfectly showing the eye clearly..

Hi Pat, Looks like someone is having a temper tantrum! Love the shot because of the expressive nature of the young bird. You captured an amazing shot! The lighting and focus are both top notch, but the expressive nature of the shot immediately caught my attention! Great timing my friend ! :o)â?¤ Nancy

Another fantastic photograph. It looks like the younger bird is complaining about something. Maybe when will I be eating. Good focus and lighting. Sharp detail.
Well composed. Nicely done.

A wonderful shot of nature in action! The jays have excellent definition and clarity of color against the soft background. Their expressions are so pleasing to see and the composition is nicely balanced. A well taken shot!

HA! Love the title. It describes the scene perfectly.

The poses of the birds are classic as one begs for a meal while the other is having none of it forcing the young to forage on their own.

The placement in the frame is well one. The colors are nicely rendered. The focus is sharp. The background is such as to place the focus on the two birds.

Great work Pat ~ Steve
