Nik,
A beautiful picture of the Crazy Horse Monument still in the process of completion.I assume the outline on the left I'd a Horse's head. It will be a sight to behold once it's complete. At this stage it's still eye-catching. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

I am very grateful for your very kind review and that big 6! The white outline on the right sketches the horse?s head. When I was there back in 2014, the experts there said that it would be another 50 years before that huge mountain sculpture would be finished!

did you get to see it finished. I did wonder how they went about it - I assumed lots of paint and then chipping into the paint. I was on a sculpture course at one time and carved wood a lot. The rock formation is fantastic.

When I was there the experts said it would take another 50 years to finish as it is so big!

I can see that, I worked on a nun about two foot tall, for 3 months every time I had a spare moment from RGN training at Bow Hospital. That is why lots of artists say, I can carve but I dont, because you spend months working on it and people just will not pay the money. Evidently in Africa, the craftsmen have an axe and just chop away bits of wood and are done much quicker

Like the rock formation, including the little window letting the blue sky come through. The face looks really good and appears it will be fantastic when completed. Think the white scratch-looking takes away from the complete beauty. The sky is lovely too.

Very many thanks for your kind and thoughtful review! The white lines outline where the horse's head will be.

Ok. That makes sense. The one sculpture done is nice.

Beautiful shot of this fascinating landscape. This is really cool the image tells a story...I didn't see the carving of the face til I zoomed in closer. The outline of the other face is neat. I wonder what the hike in the middle is for? Is it finished now? I would be interested to see how it came out. The sky and stone contrast nicely thank you for sharing

I do appreciate your very kind and detailed review! The hole in the middle is the start of the gap between Crazy Horse's outstretched arm and the back of the horse he is riding. No the carving is not finished. When I was there back in 2014, experts told us that it would not be finished fore another 50 years!

Yes it works nikman for the contest but feel you could have chosen another place to show of this dramatic rock, for me its a tourist type photo [and nothing wrong in that] but nowing and seeing some of your other work you do look and see other viewpointsfem where you take photos...Brian

A well selected image for the contest I would say . Splendid monument to the great Indian chief, it looks like a medieval fortress ... It is beautifully presented and composed. Good luck !

I have been there. It looks like you got pretty close or had a great photo lens. Right before we visity Crazy Horse we went to Mount Rushmore. I was a bit disappointed that it looked so small. Especially in comparison to Crazy Horse. I do hope they are able to do more work and complete the structure, but they have a long way to go.

An interesting image of the Crazy Horse sculpture in progress - the colors and textures of the image are shown with clarity and appear very natural. Nicely taken.

I am very grateful for your nice review! Its a great location for exploration and photography. Another bonus is that it is only 5/6 miles from Mount Rushmore and those president sculptures.
