Outstanding timing, shutter speed, focus and superb WHITE BALANCE CONTROL in the BRIGHT California sun. This proves one can shoot sunrise to Twilight without any excuse if blow out. When you choose the right settings in camera you are in control.
With Today's digital cameras and cell phones.. there is no excuse for blown colors.
Kelvin scale is now how they make light bulbs now.
The wings are awesome here D and you have great eye clarity too.
Excellent capture!!

    Thanks so much. I really had to play with my settings on this one to keep those wings from being overexposed in the bright sun. I was glad that I had a chance to get my exposure right before he flew so I could capture this landing. thanks again.

I hope you don't mind if I comment your last entry....
you should have entered it into a contest because everything is outstanding: the pose, the sharp details and the excellent control of exposure for the white "color";

    Actually Fred, I do mind. It has nothing to do with whatever rating you give or comments you make. It's about the fact that you block me for pointing out a couple of your many violations of FAR guidelines yet you still feel it is appropriate to review my work. I suppose we will have to agree to disagree on that issue. Fred, many people understand that you are FAR's Cash Cow and that has afforded you the privilege of writing your own rules. However, just because you can doesn't mean that you should. So, yes Fred, I do mind.

Nice stop action on this elegant white bird.
I like the wings position as if it is surrendering.
Well focused, the image is clear, exposure is correct, good detail in white feathers.
Well composed in natural habitat, well presented!

Tis amazing how birds come in for a landing, especially this white egret. They water ski a bit. You caught a glorious shot and this gives us something to talk about. Very nicely done. Rya G.
