Well you certainly show your wonderful imagination and storytelling ability here my friend! I think that this dust devil spirit is fascinating and it's pretty cute too! I like the way you show it in motion and the dust that it has kicked up and scattered as it came up from underground.
This is well created with such interesting details, I like the way it comes forward from the blue sky with the bright yellow sun ! It's such a clever idea to use the rope as a frame!
Well presented!

Hello Pat, I am sorry I something lie a year late on appreciating your review -- I have been in transition. I think I may have mentioned that I moved to Wales, UK... I am getting back with this story after along hiatus -- thank you very much and I hope things are holding together there in Alaska -- the world has certainly been experiencing challenges! Yours, Daphne

This is definitely art from the imagination Daphne. Such an amazing creature to conjure up in your imagination.

Your teaser part of the story has me very curious as to what the story is about.

The image is very interesting and the frame really sets the tone for the image.

A great entry for the contest Daphne and I wish you all the best in the judging. Hope all is well ~ Steve

Good to hear from you Daphne. It is a coincidence that you are now in Wales. That is on my bucket list of places that I have always wanted to visit. Hopefully that will happen one day. Hope all is well with you Daphne ~ Steve

It is for sure nothing wrong with your imagination Daphne. This is so creative, and I was reading the story about Topo with interest. Even it is a dust devil spirit, it is kind of cute as well.

I especially like the limited color pallet using more or less just blue and shades of yellow and I like the way Topo is coming out from a swirl of dust. This is done paying a very good attention even to the smallest details.

The format and framing is perfect, and it is a very good balance in the composition. I also very much like the rope frame you have used. A great looking and well done digital painting.

Thank you so much for your interest and sensitive review! Yes, you pick up on my intention to make this a rather hapless and cute spirit that gets into trouble but is not a bad actor in itself. I actually used to suffer from frontal lobe epilepsy. I felt like I went through metaphysical distance travel down a vortex for years until the cause was diagnosed and I was given anti-seizure medication. It may have been similar to what the author Lewis Carol is thought to have suffered from, who wrote Alice in Wonderland. Then an acquaintance dragged me to a Philippine healer though, who I was not inclined to have faith in, but he did something because he was in a trance and described my symptoms to me and said I had experienced too many hits on the head! After he healed me my episodes stopped! Thank you again for you kind review! Do you read? Do you like western with magic realism / sci-fi slants? I like readers for my stuff -- I could send you the manuscript after I have tidied it up, entitled My Grandfather's Gold.... Actually, this is the second book for a trilogy. If you send me an email I will send you the manuscript of the first book, but Topo isn't in that book. However the ghost-rider who turns out to be Topo's master, is. That book is on Amazon, under my fiction pen name Victoria Auberon, but I am not sure you can get Amazon Books where you are... https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=mY+grandfather%27s+Horses+Xlibris&i=stripbooks&ref=nb_sb_noss

This was indeed a long reply, and I can start by answering your last question. I actually use Amazon.uk all the time, and my husband being Scottish buy all his books there. I can also tell you that I am reading books all the time, and always have. I read about 4-5 books each month, and mostly psycological thrillers or crime. But I actually read all types of books. I would love to read your stuff, and my mail address avmurray@online.no
It is good to hear that the problems you had now has stopped, and you are of course more than welcome for the review.

Ingenius storytelling. You are taking my 6s with pleasure another excellent original digital piece. The wirmie is is a brilliant imaginative creature and I can imagine his atoms reforming and unforming.

Very cool. Kinda reminds of the movie tremors..it's a Syfy if you familiar with. The worm form is great. The depth is great. The details is great. The blend of the colors is great. The shading is great. The blend of the colors is great. The presentation is balance and eye appealing to the viewer. Creative approach and great job overall

Yikes, I was not familiar with the movie tremors!... I just looked it up. I don't think Topo has either teeth or eyes -- he's kind of an energy entity I think; an entity that senses what is around him and where he is going , rather than seeing... Also less threatening without eyes or teeth, lol...Thanks for your positive review!

Great artwork of the Tope and the bright sun shining in the painting.
Wonderful surrealistic presentation and good details. Keeping the creature within limited space, the nice frame is so suitable.
Thank you so much for sharing your painting and your emotions.

Thanks for your very insightful review! As I have mentioned to a couple of other reviewers, I am still trying to decide whether Topo has either teeth or eyes -- he's kind of an energy entity I think, that senses what is around it and where it is going, rather than seeing... I think without teeth the spirit seems less threatening, which it is not intended to be, not in itself. That is the great thing about fantasy, you can slant it whichever way!

Very imaginative and creative! I appreciate this twisted snake formation that shows off beautiful details of sand swirling and this creatures face. The illustration shows the desert in a great way and one can imagine the wind blowing this thing up to do good or evil. A talented work that is an excellent entry to the contest!

Cool!
A D'jinn-like entity!
It makes me think of some of the better illustrations that I've seen portraying H.P.Lovecraft's 'Nyarlathotep' ( 'the Messenger of the Great Old Ones' )!
( No chance of that one ever being taken Dead OR Alive! )
This is certainly a 'Good Show',my friend!

Yes, djinn like, but that had never occurred to me until I had been writing about Topo for a while. I never heard of Lovecraft or his characters, but after looking him up in Wikipedia I think I might have a clue about some very old British fiction I wouldn't be at all surprised if he spun his stuff off of. In my case, I suffered from a very nasty kind of frontal lope epilepsy for years until this girl dragged me to a Philippine faith healer reported to be Christian , when in fact he was actually practicing old shamanic traditions. Well I didn't believe in this man or the claims anyway, but i was so desperate I think some openness to some higher power must have been there in me, because the healer, who was in a trance which scared me in itself, told me what was wrong with me, (too many concussions in my life). So anyway he put a few things to rights by doing some painful manipulations with his hands to my head, and after he did that that these episodes stopped. It was a good thing too because I had decided to stop taking the anti seizure medications mysoline and dilantin since i was convinced I'd soon die of them since they were such high doses. But moving on, for years one of the "hallucinations" I experienced during my seizures was one of flying down a shrinking vortex until I was only as big as a few molecules inside my own body and then I would would travel up blood vessels to my brain and try to grow large enough to fit animate my body again. I had never seen that movie or even heard about it of the man who was reduced in size and then shot into his own circulatory system, but that was similar to what I experienced. Feeling reduced down by means of the vortex was what inspired my concept of space and time travel facilitated by this made up spirit, lol. In this novel I also have a character who gets periodic retrograde amnesia, but she is hyper vigilant so keeps inventing the present which she can't remember, the way I also have experience doing. long story. I actually ran an entire horse farm as an amnesiac when I couldn't remember knowing much over a period of two years. I had my old paperwork to go by and a husband who declared that I knew plenty about horses although I couldn't remember. Truth can be way weirder than fiction, so it felt rewarding to spin the reality nobody would believe into into fantasy instead of the other way around, lol.... enjoy

    Hmm! Very interesting,Daphne!
I was on Dilantin for a while after my first Brain Injury ( caused by a ruptured Brain Aneurysm ) back in '01!
Lovecraft was an Absolutely Excellent writer! Weird! VERY Weird!
