I really enjoy this piece. My only suggestion would be to incorporate more into the composition. It feels very centered and drawn to the middle of the painting. I would suggest trying an asymmetrical composition or adding some other elements to this piece. Also, red is a very strong color so maybe incorporate some color secrecy throughout the rest of the piece that way the eyes of the viewer travel along the entire piece.

I did this when I was getting back to painting, practicing with acrylic on plain air panels. I followed along with the professional artist as I haven't done as much in acrylic, more in oils and watercolor, and it was a red ship/boat we painted. I like my water better than his and the rest is just as good, but I changed some elements to my liking, although I'm never completely satisfied with any work I do. But getting away from being a perfectionist. I decided to enter the painted or whatever red contest with it. Please reconsider this terrible rating. I've gotten "6s" from this work. There's no way this deserves a 3.5 or even a 4. If you suggest a change, a 4.5 would be understandable. When I upload my ship on the high seas I did in oils years back, you can see it, and please some of my other work, of the many I have on this site. I'm a fairly good judge of artworks and am at spot 3 or 4 here as top reviewer. I've gotten back to drawing which I've done most of my life, now drawing with graphite, charcoal, color pencil, oil pastels, and learning water soluble oils. Hope to get back to watercolors, learning soft pastels and other as I am able physically. Thanks again for your reconsideration of this low, low rating if you enjoy it, and according to how rating is determined on this site. Thanks again. Please.

I am not an artist but was drawn
To this atmospheric painting of the little red and white boat in the choppy waves, you can almost feel the roll of the boat,
The clouds and seagulls add
To the atmosphere, very well framed and presented. Quite eye catching.

Nice rendition of the stormy sea. The foam colors of the ocean blend and collide at the same time representing what a storm would bring on. I actually would like to see this on a more rectangular canvas, 15 x 30 inches. Where you would just get a hint of calming skies. I feel the turbulence is the focal point and the calming sky a logical after thought. I think go tuberlant all the way. You captured the feeling of moving contrasting water elements very nicely!

Very interesting and intriguing job done on the sky. I really enjoy this piece. Especially nice job on the waves and foamy waters. The only thing that appears slightly off is the windows on the boat don't seem to follow with the boats slant. I feel like this one has a meaning behind it. Very nice.

Thanks. It is, along with others, the beginning of getting back to painting, especially with acrylics which I'm not or wasn't as used to as oils and watercolors. Then I couldn't use oils because of asthma. I have started using water-soluble oils but hope to work in the other again. Hope you will reconsider the 4, perhaps to 4.5 if you are sincere about the one thing I meant to show the tossing an turn. I have received several "6s" from this one from several of the top artists.

I've only just signed up for the sight and out of the handful of pieces I've seen so far, this is the best. I would love to see close up detail photos just to see how the brush work was used to capture the oceans energy and fury. The white of the ship silhouetted by the dark clouds and the darker bottom swallowed by waters beating white waves, hints at something symbolic while showing a deep knowledge of composition and color. Tough competition.

You are so kind and thank you. However, why the 1/2 point off? What was wrong? Thanks. Hope you'll reconsider that 1/2 point. I was practicing with acrylic, going back to drawing and painting. I've drawn more.

You have excellent stormy waters here and heavy clouds. So all time best was well deserved. Don't get too carried away copying working artists, you need to develop your own style. He has already got there!!

This is such a beautiful piece! I love how you've incorporated the color red. The waves are so well done, and the details on the ship look awesome. The waves, the sky, and the way the red boat is in the center really creates a focal point and draws your eye to the subject. Awesome job!

A very nice acrylic painting. Those waves are scary. I wouldn't want to be on that craft at that time . You might want to do this again in oils with a wet on wet background. Only down side is waiting time with oil but the blending is worth it
Overall this is a great painting
Looking forward to seeing more !

Thank you, artist friend, Oats, My best work was in oils and watercolor. Then I couldn't take the harsh oil clean up smells, bothered asthma. I have tried/am trying water soluble or mixable oils. They are not the same but I hope to continue a portrait with them and have purchased more new oils, hope to use. One thing good about acrylics we can paint over with oil, but not the other way around. I've done portrait(s) in oil pastels, plan to try soft pastels. Thanks again for everything! Means a lot.

Is this in Spanish. I think I recognize several words, having had Spanish several years back. But why the low rating. I hope you will reconsider as a 3.5 is terribly low. Even a 4.5 needs an explanation of what needs improving.
