I have not even heard about this bird before, but it is truly pretty. I especially like how lovely the light is falling on the bird, and the background of sand with pebbles is perfect. The Turnstone is standing out from it in an excellent way.
The photo is pin sharp, and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in the feathers of the bird. Both the exposure and white balance is perfect.
I also like the format you have cropped the photo into, and the placement of the bird within the frame. This of course makes for a good and well balanced composition.
This is a truly lovely and well taken photo Allan, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest. (Would have given this 6 stars if I had any left.)

Thanks Annie, these birds are fun to watch on the beach. They are hyper energetic in looking for food. Glad you liked the image and saw a new variety of bird.

The bird knows that camera shots don't hurt, so she/he looks closely. The bird will find the smallest pieces. Your stop-inaction is excellent. The claw above the ground shows the motion. Your photo is perfect focused and exposed and has good depth. I am impressed by the sharpness of detail and texture and the realism of color and light. The bird is well placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.

Thanks Cleo for the nice review. If only we could be so non-threatening to other wildlife, wouldn't that be nice. Thanks again.

What a darling picture of this gorgeous little bird that does not seem camera shy at all. I really love the position that you've caught him in walking. I love the beautiful colors on his fathers. Great shot of this incredible looking bird thank you so much for sharing
