Nicely done. I am familiar with these birds and this is a very good image of this fellow.
The pose is good and the ambient light is spot on (just a tad bright in the lower right corner but that is not a big thing).
Your after photo work is excellent as you brought out the the details in the feathers, softened the background to emphasize the Jay and cropped to put the bird in perfect position.
Great entry for the contest and I wish you all the best in the judging ~ Steve

A very unusual bird that we don't see in the Midwest. I had to look it up! Excellent focus on the feathers, and the bird's posture makes it easy to identify. The blurred background is ideal. Thanks for sharing.

This is an intriguing close-up portrait. The pose of the bird is interesting. Apparently, the Blue Jay observes intently something below. Thank so much Ray, although you wouldn?t want to hear this guys song?they have an annoying caw that feels like fingernails on a chalkboard. Very distinctive and ugly sounding!
