Wonderful photograph of the grey heron exploring in the shallow water for a next catch. Or maybe he is looking at his beautiful reflections on the water?
Nice colors and placement of the bird within the frame.
Great composition and overall pleasing presentation.
Susan, thank you for sharing.

    Jirina,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on the Grey Heron. If you look at the tip of it's beak on the right you can see the River Lamprey's wet skin shining in the light.

Thank you Susan, for the elaborate explanation of the life cycle of a lamprey. Very enlightening. So the herons feed on the lamprey. That is an amazing life cycle for the Lamprey. thank you for the knowledge. Ray

This is beautiful wildlife photography. You have timed it well. The light and the composition have worked well and you have caught the bird in its unique way of feeding itself. Good effort. Intersting notes too.

A super explanation and more than a super picture as this heron is looking for something to eat as his position shows us exactly what he is concentrated on

Your position is special, your close up is more than special, your colors are well applied, and your frame choice was well applied, so the result is fantastic with a really harmonious content. Very good content - thanks for sharing, have a blessed Sunday, xoxo

A great action capture of this Grey Heron snagging a River Lamprey.

This photo shows nature in action. The focus is sharp and the colors are natural.

The water makes for a natural surrounding and brings life to the scene.

Nice work Susan ~ Steve

A very pleasing photo of one of the favorite birds. Looks like she caught a frog perhaps? I like the large amount of water at the base, which leads the viewer into the bird's activity.

    Sean,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this Grey Heron with a River Lamprey held wriggling in it's beak. If you look to the right of the tip of Heron's beak you can see the Lamprey it's grey in colour with a slight shine . It's only about 6 to8 inches long more Worm like than a fish.

This is a beautiful capture. The Heron is impressive. I like its observant pose. Your photo is perfect focused and exposed and has good depth. I enjoy the sharpness of detail and the realism of color and light. The distorted reflections at the water are interesting. The photo is well composed. The bird is excellent placed within the frame. Very nice capture Susan, the grey heron is perfectly placed within the frame, good timing to capture it with its fresh caught fish.
