You have indeed captured this Crane well, and the stop action is just perfect. I like the way the light is falling on its spread wings, and it is also standing out really well from the background.
The photo is sharp and it is truly clear and well defined details to be seen in the feathers of the wings. The exposure is perfect.
I also like the format you have cropped the photo into and the placement of the bird off to the right. I do however think you need to straighten the photo a bit since the water line is tilting a bit to the left. Still this is a lovely and well taken photo, and I wish you luck with the contest.

A very nicely timed shot. There is a pair that hang out in my yard although their nest is a ways off, now they are coming one at a time while the other one sits on the eggs. They share incubation. Best of luck in the contest.

interesting capture. the angle of the shot of this crane about to land by the water is great. the capture of the light is great. the clarity is great. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.. oh btw..i have made an announcement on FAR forum for a "call for artists and photographers" for a new FLOOD/TAYLOR presentation music video.
