A lot of fish could fit in that pelican's mouth!
The bird is nicely placed in the frame and his feathers stand out sharply against the blues and greens in the water.

An interesting image. The pelican is shown in fine detail and good colors. While he is backlit I would not call this a silhouette. Best of luck in the contest.

First of all you are lucky in seeing pelicans and this is quite good where you got a photo of its beak open,but the downside is its not a silhouette so not sure why you put this in as such...Brian

He definitely does look like a hungry pelican with his mouth open. He is really stunning I love the colors. The water is so beautiful you can see blue and green and ripples that are very soft so appealing. It's really wonderful my friend thank you so much for sharing

oh that explains everything..when i yawn i couldnt understand why someone would throw a sardine in my mouth!...lolol..just teasing..cool capture. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of this pelican with beak open above the water is great. the capture of the light is great. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall. oh btw..there is new contest that has been announced that you might be interested in..its title "the letter "A" Photo" contest. the contest was created by iphone7 and if there is much participation he will do from A to Z in the next few months. it might be fun for you! check it out!

The sky above & the Pelican's reflection on the sea is an added bonus. The light sparkling in it's eye while highlighting it's plumage.
