A yellow crowned night heron and a true beauty!

Your low key lighting is just perfect here.

Love the subtle glance your way... an excellent execution of a low key shot if I have ever seen one.

good luck in the contest!!!

the expression makes me think the bird is saying.."i have been soooo bad they put me in the dark!" lol. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of this birds facial is great. the capture of the light is great. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

This is captured uniquely in that the bird meshes slowly into the background but in such an artistic way. Actually somewhat classic photography. Beautiful head, eye, and beak, color nice too.

A good looking nature image posted here! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of that beautiful bird before you. Like its eye and feathers. Colours, textures and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are good. Great photo!

an excellent very, very close up of this night heron who decided to pose for your camera; excellent lighting with particularly sharp focus on his left eye;

HI Dean, this makes such a lovely portrait of the bird. Love the way he is looking at you. I don't think he could have posed any better! You did an excellent job of capturing him! I can well imagine the excitement you had when he landed so close by! Love the lighting and clarity of the shot! Awesome Job! :o) Helvi

A beautiful bird that we don't see very often up in Michigan. The lighting is extraordinary and the exposure could not be better. A great eye and beautiful colors.
