Superb handling of the soft pastels. Weer they the creamy kind that blend well? Your attention to detail is excellent, especially in the heart of he flower. Its color pairs well with the greenery from which it emerges. Fabulous

    Thank you. These weren't pan pastels like the portrait of Newborn and Mom. It was done lately, but I believe I did later smooth some with colored pencil after I'd fixed the pastel, sprayed with fixative. Thanks for reviewing and your outstanding encouragement. Really appreciate the "6" also.

Very nice rendering of this Rose of Sharon flower. I would say you do very well with pastels and colored pencils. Looks like you are on a rewarding journey with this medium. Very nicely done. Ray

    Thanks artist friend, Ray, I was probably wrong about never using them; I did teach myself and work very little with pastels, although more in oil pastels, years ago, but these are the first since I went back to drawing and painting some about three years back. This is a more current work. You work outstandingly in several mediums and styles, so your input is very important and I learn.

Very beautiful masterpiece, the pink is not too vibrant but very soft and the raindrops adds flair, the green shaded with the yellow is very realistic, I love how the main capture is the flower

    Thank you, artist, for reviewing and liking this art. I hope to learn soft pastels more; I probably used the wrong side making me need some colored pencils also. Appreciate your review and good wishes.

Well drawn and beautiful colors! Leaves could be more visible in many lines and shades of green. I like this very much. The different shades of of pink compliment each other.

    Thank you so much, artist friend. I purposely drew the leaves more subtle, contemporary, but thank you so very much for your kind review and words and for the "6". Means so much to me.

an excellent soft pastel Glena: before reading, I thought it was just another blurred picture; it looks like the ones I have in my garden; good sharp details;

    Thanks artist friend, supergold. It has been a while since I have had the privilege to review your work; I even tried to view/review some on the release page but it was indicated they were not available. It is a privilege to have you also review my work again, and I look forward to reviewing yours again too.

Glena this is a beautiful Rose of Sharon. I have these in my garden. I love the soft, dreamy look you have given this with pastel. The colour of greens with the soft pinky purple make this a very intriguing piece. Thank you for sharing and good luck to you in the contest ð?¤? Linda

Rose of Sharon is so life like but still has that dreamy feel. The pastel lavender is stunning against the green backdrop. The shaded center adds a 3D affect that creates a feel of realism. The slight use of shadow again adds tot he depth of the scene. Nice job. Side note, I planted Rose of Sharon 30 years ago and it is so invasive. I fight the pop-up plants every year.

    Thank you, artist, so much for reviewing, liking, and the insightful and helpful comments, encouragement. You are so right also about the invasiveness of these beautiful flowers, them dropping little plants all around, near, and under themselves as well. My husband cuts them back during off seasons, but leaves the tree lower parts as a scotch near near one wall and for other purposes.
