I thought this was a photo. Looks just like someone took a picture. Love the background blur and yet you can still make out the details. The dove looks so sweet resting there on that log. I don't know but it could be a tad sharper. But it's such an awesome piece. I can't believe how great your talent is. Wow. I hope to be able to present my digital art this well. Awesome ð???

Comment from Lucien van Oosten

As a composition it has all the elements to make for a good piece of digital art.
In my way of thinking there is too much that is blurry, and that detracts from creating the depth and perspective.
If the dove were in clean clear focus and then portions of the background right behind the dove was also in focus and then further back, like beyond the green leaves was blurry it would have worked very well.
Of course that means the details in the dove would need to be perfected; especially the head, eye and breast, the whites look too blown out.
As it is, it looks rushed in my opinion, and to me it is not your best work, as a digital artist.
thank you for letting me review your work.
Cheers,
Lucien

    Thank you very much, Lucien!!!
You are right with your observations, but do not accuse me of rushing my work! I never rush any of my work. I worked on and off over about a month on this painting. I did not count hours but think it might be somewhere between 40 and 50 hours. :o)
I understand what you mean. I actually did not see those problems. I will try to fix those issues, but probably it would be the best to delete this version and start over again in a smaller version.
The details are a bit clearer at my original 3ftx2.5ft], but I had to resize the picture to 8x6 inches in order to meet the FAR recommendations, which caused a subsequent loss of detail. Then I tried to add detail back, which apparently Did not wpoek well.

please accept my apology. for me, the image did not look like your usual work, and to me it looked rushed, lacking the detail I have come to expect form your work.
I get caught in the FAR resizing issue and how it takes way from the original work.

have great day, and again, please accept my apology.

    cheer,
    Lucien

    No problem, Lucien,
I was my failure to work at such a big size. :o)

You have created such a wonderful nature scene here with the juvenile white winged dove in its natural habitat.
I like the way you have posed this dove, . Well shown shape and structure, good show of the feathers and their soft texture, I like the natural background . Very well created, arranged and presented!

This is a wonderfully realistic painting! Your rendering of this bird is well done with great thought and excellent colors, textures and tones. He is perched in a real way on the branches among the finely detailed greenery. A talented work, thank you for sharing!

To create a scene like this digitally is amazing. The feeling is that you used a long lens tightly focused to blur the background. The dove itself as a bit a blown-out light. Your talent to recreate this effect is very cool.

I really, really, really thought this was a photograph... I don't know how you do it . Super talent with digital art. This is very realistic in all aspects from branch and foliage to the little bird fluffed feather and small eye. Just amazed.. well done.

What do you think about the program?
reply by Brendaartwork18 on 13-Jul-2022
It reminds me a little of photoshop. Not that I am into that but many moons ago when it first came out I went fir 2 terms night school. I am really intrigued how you can chose brushes like real ones. And I think you can mix colours like for real. I have ordered a graphic tablet that you can draw on like paper which I think I will need. So excited... a new adventure. Still reading and digesting but big thank you for the introduction. I have a 4 week trial so will try and make the most.

Yes, you can mix your colors.
Your graphic tablet is similar to my touch pet, I think. Best luck trying! :o)

Really nice digital work, especially the dove and the log that it is perched upon. The leaves are fine. The background branches, twiggs are busy, some not so clear, and take away a tad from an otherwise fine digital painting.

I painted the background soft in order to report the environment, but also to keep its 3D appearance. :o)
