I must say this is a fine shot of the kingfisher on the fallen log. The colors of this bird are vibrant and remarkable. The setting, a branch of a fallen tree above the water, with green vegetation as background and the spray of swamp grass in the foreground creates a beautiful frame. Very nice Susan, thank you for sharing this beauty. Ray

Ray,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this little Kingfisher perched on the log sloping into the river. The leaves in the foreground are branches of a Willow tree growing along the river Dodder.

Thanks for sharing this nice capture of the lovely greenish-blue headed Kingfisher and none too attractive a body, but cute little bird; the clearly-captured log, green forest.

Glena,
Thanks for your complementary review on this most beautiful of birds with it's iridescent turquoise blue back, head & wings with it's orange breast. The one bird on the river Dodder every one
wants to capture.

Welcome. A really darling bird surrounded by foliage and log. I hope the little beauty is safe. Fine capture indeed!

I keep looking for Kingfishers, no luck yet. Even though this is taken from a distance you have achieved sharp focus on the bird and the colors stand out well against the background green foliage. Nice to view.

What a cute little guy. I always thought Kingfishers where a bit bigger. The backdrop helps pop hi colors and keeps him front and center. The diagonal limb breaks the scene into two equal parts, and he is the centerpiece. Lighting is good and use shade and shadow works very well.

John,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this little Kingfisher that's about the size of a House Sparrow. Maybe your American Kingfisher 's are larger.

This little bird is beautiful. Due to its vivid colors, the Kingfisher draws the eyes and attention of the viewers immediately. Your photo is excellent focused and exposed and has good depth. I enjoy the sharpness of detail and the realism of color and light. The placement of the bird on the diagonal branch pleases the equilibrium of the viewer. The dark background emphasizes the colors of the bird nicely. The photo is well composed and framed. The composition is balanced.
