This old tree just looks fantastic and who ever decorated it is for sure a true artist. The light is falling on it in such a lovely way, and it is also standing out well from the background.
The photo is very sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in every part of the tree. The exposure is just spot on.
The cropping is perfect, and I like the centered position of the tree. I think this is a great looking and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

We have recently moved to an area that has a state park called Rough River State Park. There we have a flood control dam which made a big lake where people come with boats to play and fish. It is a beautiful place. I am still working 3 days a week which makes it hard for me but I hope that part will soon be over...maybe about 6 more months.
This picture was just one of the many pretty scenes in the area.
I just love hearing from you.
I have very limited internet service so I post all I can when at work so reviewing others work is hard for me. I am using cell phone which makes it difficult!

It seems like you have moved to a very nice area with a lot of fine photo opportunities. This special tree is an example of that. I can funnly understand that it is difficult to do reviews using a cell phone, and also to still be working. I retired 11 years ago, so I can promise that you have something look forward to.

Your capture is interesting. It seems that this old tree got reshaped and carved buy by a master artisan. The animal sculptures beautiful. The living Eagle above seems to think that they are alive. Maybe he/she is looking for a partner. Your photo is excellent focused and exposed and has good depth. I enjoy the realism of light and color and the refinement of detail. The tall format emphasizes the carved tree well. The tree is excellent placed within the frame. The composition is balanced.
