I think the placement of the three red peppers in the painting is good, and as a subject they are a good entry for the contest. I think the peppers are painted very well in showing their shape and textures.
I do think there are a few areas where the painting could be improved, such as the shadows cast by the peppers should be darker on the cream-colored surface they are sitting on. The shadow should be darker and filled in better, the swirling gray color there is a detractor to the visual flow of the composition. And maybe having the shadow also appear on the peppers behind, cast by the one on the left, again it would add depth to the composition.
Another thing I would consider is adding a texture, either with brush strokes or a pattern, to the wall behind the peppers, in doing so the painting would have better depth and perspective.
It is a good start, but to me the painting could be improved, to make it more visually robust and powerful.

Beautiful, simply beautiful. The peppers are so vivid, colorful, shiny, almost too pretty to be real, but they do look so real. Fine oil work. Reminds me of your outstanding apples painting. The sky here is a pretty blue. The foundation is rather nice too, the shadows/shade of the peppers so nice. You really deserve a "6" artist friend, Janicep1, for the whole.

Hunger can be a great motivator. Great job of using shade and shadows give a great DOF. The using of light is perfectly handled. The neutral background helps popp the peppers. Nice works.
