Nice photo. I love how it's dark and eerie in the background with the heron standing with its head down. It really looks like it has no head.

LOL - I hope not Fred, but it for sure looks like it. I like how well the bird is showing off the feathers on its back, and also how the heap of branches it is sitting on is working as a nice and natural framing. You have also captured so well the fine shine and ripples in the water.
The bird is standing out sharp and well defined against the background, and it is clear details to be seen in the feathers. The exposure is perfect.
The photo is nicely cropped and the bird has got a fine placement off to the left. A lovely and well taken photo Fred, and with an excellent DOF.

Humorous and entertaining photograph of the heron with beautiful colors and texture on its coat with shiny feathers.
The dark colors on the lake are allowing us think that there could be a crocodile somewhere in the back.

Fred,
First you have NO Crocodiles in Paris (At least none with 4legs) second if that heron had no head it could not stand upright... It's head is hidden behind it's body as it holds it's head low out over the lake as it searches for fish or is preening it's breast. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

maybe there are some crocodiles.....

No Native Crocodiles in France except in the Zoos...
