Glena this is a wonderful work of art. Great colored pencil drawing especially being your first completed piece. I am sure the recipient was very appreciative. The work is soft and nicely detailed. You have captured unique features. The sparkle in his eyes and the little smirk unique only to your subject. Nicely accomplished.

A very nice job for a first. The colors are wonderful and you did a very nice job on his eyes. They look great. It would be nice to see a bit of texture to his skin. Overall a good job.

Thank you, artist friend Jodi Kay, for reviewing and encouraging. I know sometimes with colored pencils (since then) I must do more layers, to build texture.

I wouldn't have expected it was your first try. This is awesome with great facial expression. Great detail, contrast, emotion and true artistic talent. Bravo my friend, bravo.

Thank you, thank you much, artist friend Chaxl. It was my first colored pencil portrait. I placed a black background on the copy I uploaded. Later, I did another colored pencil portrait including the background. I really appreciate your kindness, encouraging comments and reviews. Please look at my portfolio if you'd like and see my other firsts. I've drawn much of my life but just recently, within the past three-four years, went back to drawing, painting.

Nice work friend Glena! I like the fine contrast in colors and this young man's beautiful features. Expressive eyes, strong brows and such a contented look - as though he is contemplating a wonderful future! Well done my friend!

This will be a treasured portrait for this family for decades to come. We had one done of our son in his senior year. We had his favorite hobbies around the outer perimeter and his head shot similar to yours in the center. It was done in pencil. Your use of color is a real eye-popper. The black surround gives this scene a real DOF. Your skills with his eyes give this your man the ability to see his admirers. Well done.

Thanks so much, artist friend Gary. Would love to see your son's portrait sometime. Yes, they do mean so much. And, these people did appreciate the work, especially it being my first color pencil portrait, then adding the dark background later. Thanks for your keen insight and encouragement.

Glena what a great painting of this boys graduation pic.

You have captured his gorgeous brown eyes and a little smirk on his face. As if to say, can we get the photo finished. I cant get over his eyes.

Absolutely stunning painting my artist friend. I am so pleased to review it.

You are so good at eyes. He has golden brown eyes. A true beauty on a guy.

Thanks for sharing. Wish I had a six to give you.

Thank you, artist friend Jewell. I thought now long back that I do need to get the reference pics when I use one and put them side by side. Thanks for reminding me and thanks for reviewing, the great comments, and high rating. I really appreciate it all. Love you much also.

Very well done. Such a challenge to work with pencil and get the softness that you managed so well. The work of the eyes made the drawing in my opinion.

Thank you so very much, artist Kevin. I have always been blessed to some of my best work with the eyes in a portrait. I understand it is the main feature in all portraits, at least usually. Thanks again for taking the time and for your encouragement.

Thank you so much, artist friend Nancy. I really appreciate the review, fine comments, and encouragement. His family did really appreciate the work. I did add a black background but everything else was colored pencil, the background for theirs, original not added. I do appreciate it when people appreciate what I have labored much for or that really means a lot to both of us.
