Gosh, I wonder if she's a relation of mine with Morse in her name!?!
A great photo for this contest. The focus is sharp, the colours are beautifully vibrant and the subject matter is so interesting.
What an amazing lady, your notes are fascinating. Nice to realise she reached the age of 70, which in those days was quite a feat!

Fine capture of the loveliness of her hat, face, body and dress. She appears a stately woman except for her hand size. The sky is nice as is the greenery. The golden/bronze item she has as a scotch of sorts is nice too. Enjoyed the info.

Great pose. The use of light and the control of the light in the shadows is done perfectly. The tight crop and the great blue skies frame her so well. The story adds to the meaning of the scene and gives us a perspective of the history behind the sculpture.

Absolutely stunning photograph of this sculpture with beautiful background with white clouds and garden.
Nice description of the long history of this lady that did so much for her community, so her legend still lives on.
Great contest entry!

Clara must have been a really elegant lady for her times, and this statue of her is really beautiful. I especially like the textures you have brought out in the bronze, and also how lovely the light is falling on the statue.

The statue is standing out sharp and well defined against the background, and it is clear details to be seen. The exposure is perfect.

The tight cropping has worked well, and the statue is well placed within the frame. I think this is a lovely and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

The photo is well-taken and depicts an interesting historical figure. Having a degree in history, I am always ready to learn from monuments like these. I had not heard of Clara Edna Morse Latshaw. Is that a handful of soil she has? Thank you for sharing.

    Thank you for your comments on this post! This is a very tall statue that is up on a pedestal as well and what she has in her hand is an umbrella. I have a full body shot of this but felt like there wasn?t enough definition in her strong face to use for the competition. Thanks again!

    Now I see the handle of the umbrella

This is a beautiful shot of the statue of the lady. You have framed it well. Light and sharpness are very effective in creating a lovely capture. Good luck!

A good looking image posted here into the competition together with interesting notes! Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us an enjoyable view of that public-minded woman. Textures, colours and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

a very good capture and close up of this bronze statue of Clara Latshaw in Pueblo Colorado;
I wonder why you didn't take the whole body with her feet;

    Thanks so much! This statue is so large that including her entire body took the focus off of her beautiful face - which is what I wanted to show.
