The sepia tones give a wonderful feel of looking into the shadows of offstage. The girls are waiting their turn to be on stage for their audition. One is alert and full of anxiety and attentive and the other one is either bored or zoned out imagining herself in the lead role. The details of the elegant dresses catch the dim light of backstage. Very well executed and the scene tells a great story.
