This is a photo looking really good in black and white, and I especially like the fine distinctions between light and dark. The cattle is also standing out well from the background.
The animals must have been quite dark, and some details are lost because of a slight under exposure, but the light is fine in the rest of the photo.
When it comes to the composition I think the cattle is a bit centered, and my suggestion is to crop more at the bottom to get rid of some of the negative space.
Still I think this is an all together lovely and well taken photo with a good DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Anyway, this is a wonderful capture of the cattle drive in progress.
Your subject is centered perfectly and being in the snow, makes for a great black and white photo!
