Annie,
This is a beautiful picture of what I think is Creeping Thistle it's soft purple petals narrow petals are glowing out from it's dark background the sharp spikes behind the petals frame the flower with a circle of green spikes that extend beyond the petals. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.
