The reflection of the hillside in the calm pond is like a mirror. This is probably due to the calmness of the water, the clear sky, and the perfect light. I like the shot very much. Thank you for sharing. Thomas

As mirror reflections go this one is the gold standard. I don't mean to brag but this shot is rare. Three things to remember regarding 'scape' shooting: Know the area, Know the weather and know your gear.

If there had been a small red sailboat in the pond, I would say I have the same shot. Vermont is so perfect for these types of shots. Your patience and pre-production setup were well worth the time and calculations to have the perfect one and done shot. The colors pop and the shadows give a tremendous POV. It is like I am standing on the shore. Well done.

How about two young ladies in a red canoe on Long Pond? I have driven by this little pond so many times over the years The only times I have seen it like this I never had a camera with me. This scene fell apart not more than 10 minutes after I took this.

Al I recall I was dressed lightly, must have been in the mid 40's. But that didn't last by the time I finished shooting the sun disappeared, wind picked up and temp fell 10 degrees and it began to sleet.

Love this image Bob and your choice of lens has worked well creating a darkened blue sky and water on leading into lighter colors. The reflections are vivid and the setting one of serenity. Colors are stunning.

Thanks for the in depth review and great rating. Normally I would use a polarizing lens - but that would have change the tone and temperature of the entire scene. This was the first time I tried this and shucks folks it worked ... Bob

A wonderful photo of fall in Vermont. I like the reflection of the mountains in the water. Good composition with the evergreens on the right. Focus is very good. I used to live across the lake in upstate New York. This photo reminds me how much I miss it.
