8 point buck

Thank you for sharing this story. I felt sad that someone shot such a fine animal. When I was young, I went deer hunting with my friends and family every year - until I shot my first buck, a large, six-point animal that weighed over two hundred pounds in Central Missouri (corn-fed). I never went hunting again. It was too easy. I had never been a duck hunter, as I thought they were too pretty and tasted bad. After that, I only hunted coyotes that tried to kill livestock on my farm... ducks, chickens, calves, etc.
Regards,
Thomas

Thank you so much, Thomas. I photographed this gorgeous buck for almost four years, often from only 10 feet away;from a 4 point, to three years being an 8 point, each year with a bigger rack, that?s how much he trusted me. One of my most memorable experiences is spending a couple of hours one cold January day walking through the woods with him, and being followed by our resident yearling spike buck, Bucky. It was just the three of us,and I have never felt more accepted in my life than I was that day.

What a serene image you have captured here, of your very special pet! I'm sorry to hear he was shot.
The sunrays on his body are perfect! Great shadow capture too. Not a care in the world! What a beautiful animal!

This is a truly beautiful photo of your beloved Bullseye, and especially the light is so lovely , and the way it is falling on the buck. Also the autumn colors do something special for this photo.

The photo is of course also very sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in every part of the animal. The colors look nice and natural, and the exposure is spot on.

The photo is nicely cropped, and Bullseye is so well placed off to the left. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo LeeAnn, and with an excellent DOF.

Bullseye. I have seen many a picture of him taken by you, so gentle and docile and you did such a fine job capturing his warmth and gentleness. Even as he is shown sitting in the shadows his strength and kindness shows. LeeAnn, I am sure you have fond memories. This is a beautiful picture of him. Ray

Gorgeous picture of Bullseye. How unfortunate that someone had to shot this beautiful animal. The sun shining through the trees is lovely and I love his pose. Outstanding photo!

A good looking nature image posted here! Your fine and classical composition offers us an enjoyable view of your handsome Bullseye and its lovely location. Textures, colours and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Nicely done!

A lovely shot of a majestic beast with beautiful back-lightning.
But I'm so sad to think he was killed soon after. I don't understand hunters or their reasons for killing such wonderful creatures at all - surely it's better to 'hunt' with a camera rather than a gun!

Many thanks, I heard the shot that ended up killing him, but not before I saw him running down into our woods, stumble and fall. He was gone by the time I got up there; to add insult (literally!) to injury, the hunter, our ?neighbor? who owns the land behind us, but doesn?t live there, believed the photos he got of Bullseye on his trail cams were no different from the ones I was able to take within 10 feet of this buck.

This is beautiful pet photography. You have timed it well. The light, and the composition have worked well and you have caught the calm looking and relaxing buck very well. Good effort.

This is one handsome buck in a fine pose. His face and antlers are very nice. The sun's light cast upon his body and especially on the leaves making them sharper and more colorful adds to the scene's beauty. Thanks for sharing also the commentary, although I am again saddened by Bullseye's death.
