I am not sure what kind of animal this is, but it looks like a deer. I like the close and personal approach, and also how lovely the light is falling on the animal. It is also standing out from the softened background in an excellent way.

The photo is sharp and it is clear and well defined details to be seen in every part of the animal. The exposure is perfect.

The tight cropping has worked well, and the animal is well placed within the frame. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.
