This shot is a text book example of the color saturation obtainable at the 'Golden Hour'. That time of day when the light rays from the sun are almost horizontal to the plain of the ground - A la what you have captured.

Color saturation is at its max, contrast is so short scale everything the suns rays fall on just glows.

Focus is enhanced so that the least detail stands out.

There is one more thing, the application of the rule of thirds. This take is a fine example of how color and contrast can also be expressed through the ROT. I look at this and I see a gradient of color and contrast evenly distributed across three bands - brilliant ... Bob

What a beautiful view of the hay field before the storm!
I love to drive through our farmland and see the hay fields with the bales ready to pick up .
You have photographed this well with good focus, this image is clear, exposure is well managed, colors snd tones appear natural.
Well composed and presented!

Thank you so much Pat. I nearly didn?t get the shot as I was stuck on a motorway and couldn?t stop, I was so relieved when a parking area suddenly appeared and I could pull off the road!

Nice view Charlotte and the heavy looking sky adds something to the sun laying across the field in this,i thought at first there were spots in the sky but realise they are birds, good one...Brian

Thanks Brian, yes they?re seagulls, the darker blue at the bottom of the sky is the sea. I nearly didn?t get the shot as I was driving along the A1 at the time and was so frustrated to see the sky and that light and not be able to just stop! Thankfully I got to a lay-by before the storm finally broke.

Charlotte, this is one beautiful picture and is an excellent choice for the contest. The light and dark contrast works so well along with the long shadows. To me this is a winner. I wish you luck int he contest. Ray
