Foxy Lady

A Red Fox on my game trail

First of all, I must say that you are fortunate to have a red fox visit your back yard, I have to drive way up on the hillside to possibly see a red fox! My daughter lives up there and she will call me if she sees any wildlife!
I really like the way this lady is posing with her head turned, her position within the frame is good although I may have cropped just a bit from the left.
Focus is a bit soft on her face, the white portions on her face are over exposed, especially on her left including her left eye.
Her body seems okay, I can see the texture of her soft fur, the very tip of her tail also appears to be blown out.
For any living thing, I always shoot with a fast shutter, 1/200 was too slow and it allowed too much light , I would have shot at 1/ 1600 at least and iso at 200 or 400 with F8, this is always such a challenge because her body is dark and her cheeks are white, the sun was not your friend here.
I run into this shooting Eagles on the beach in the sun.
I am baffled as to why no one else has mentioned this in their reviews.
I hope that you get more opportunities to photograph the red fox, they are timid whenever I see them anywhere in Anchorage except up on the hillside , and I still have to remain silent to capture even one shot or they will flee.

Pat .. thanks for your thorough and concise review and fair rating. I hope I can catch a glimpse of her ahead of time. I think I'll try a game camera to see if there is any pattern to her wanderings ... Bob

I wish I had visitors like that in my back yard! I'm jealous! Lol
This is a lovely shot Bob, and so rare to be able to capture such shy a creature. The colours are natural and the detail is lovely, you can almost feel her fur.

A good looking nature image posted here with interesting notes. Your fine and classical composition offers us an enjoyable view of that lovely fox and her location. Textures, colours and tones are good. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well taken!

I do like her, artist Bob, especially where the sun hits her fur and shows the redness in it. You caught her shadow well too and the whole with the foliage and grass well.

I like it; I wonder though if her face is a tad blurry or is it just the sun...it's a wonderful photo otherwise. Great color and contrast.
