Because it only has four legs it reminds me of a fairy, a very concerned fairy. Which makes me think of the poem about a man who dreamed he was a butterfly so much he couldn't remember if he was actually a butterfly dreaming of being a man. The bright colors give that dream feel while the earth tones make it feal grounded and in touch with reality.

Hi Glena! What a cute little butterfly, you have here. I live how it is turning its head to admire its own beauty.
The colors you have chosen are bright.
I wish you the best of luck in this contest!

Thank you so much, artist Jewell. I really appreciate your reviews and kind comments. We have talked about our spouses. A photograph of mine is on the site for the black and white contest, but I didn't do it as well when I converted it from color, among other things, according to some.

This is a lovely butterfly, I love the look on his face. You've captured the wings beautifully with very delicate lines. I'm just a beginner at drawing so I can't offer much advice or anything but it really is wonderful.

Thank you so very much, artist Oliver, for reviewing and your nice comments. I usually do more realism, but when the contest asked for colorful, I decided to use this one I had drawn. Thanks again.

Very different and unique. Not usually my type of art but I was drawn to this. Its simplicity is what I find fascinating, yet there is detail in the shadows underneath it. Wonderful drawing.

Thank you, artist. I believe it is the first time you have reviewed my work; I so appreciate your review. I usually do realism, but the contest was about "colorful" so I thought I's do something different. Glad you like the drawing.

This is packed with color and a lot of fun. One cannot look at this without smiling. You did an excellent job on shading its shadow, it looks fantastic with your framing. Very nice job

Very elegant butterfly with great colours. I love how it appears as if it's standing on the paper. The shading you used for the ground really adds to it. Very well done.

I especially like the simplicity of this image, and also the expression in the butterfly's little face. It is almost like it is looking back to admire its colorful wings. I also like the neutral colors of the background, and that the butterfly is grounded.

The butterfly looks great with the black body, and because of the strong colors of the wings, this picture has a strong visual impact.

The format and framing is fine, and the butterfly has got a fine placement off to the left. Perhaps the left side is a bit empty, but this is an minor issue. It is a lovely and well done painting Glena, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Thank you, artist friend, avmurray, for reviewing and your detailed description. I tried to have the butterfly coming from one side but stopped long enough to assess things. Of course, I am sure there are not butterflies these colors but the contest was about colorfulness so I drew and applied this. Your reviews and support mean a lot to me.

You are more than welcome Glena.

He definitely is checking out his wings from the look on his face! This makes a great initial impact, the colors are bold and very eye catching, it would be very easy to spot this beauty floating among the summer blooms. Nice off center placement, the neutral background does an excellent job of showing off this stunner!

Thank you so very much for your kind and encouraging words and for reviewing. The contest indicated colorful so I tried; there probably would not be a butterfly this color but I changed the original color.

Love the expression on the butterflies face as he views the perforations in the wings. A cute artwork with delightful bright colors. The choice of background color makes it stand out perfectly.

You need virtual 6 just for the expression on the butterfly's face. He is wondering what the heck did do to my wings. Bold, bright and so artistically done. The construction of space is terrific and the effect of what I consider some sort of shadow effect adds interest and depth.
