You've done a fine job here and if it's one of your first watercolours, then double bravo!
I love its simplicity and yet it retains all the detail needed for the viewer to know immediately that they're birch trees - a sign of a good artist in my book!
Very best wishes for the competition.

I love Birch trees! They look so cool in the winter. I've done several art pieces myself of them. I like
The whimsical loose lines and movement here. Colors are nice too. Well done.

Beautiful painting of the birch trees with great details and nice pastel colors showing the texture so well.
Great full screen presentation and overall so nice to view.
Best of luck in the contest.

Lise you have presented a wonderful watercolor painting of these birch trees standing silently in the snow. The design, the colors and your technique bring this creation together so well. You have included the details of the branches, the bark indication and the blue shadows. I love the bright and airy feel. Very nice creation. Ray

The birch trees are lovely' the sky peeping through its blues, is quite lovely; the snow with the whites and blues (shadows? of trees or other) and golden-browns are rather nice. It is good watercolor practice and in time you will become quite good, I am sure. The broken, not joined twigs and a few minor areas take away a tad, but it is rather good, especially in the smaller version where it is more compact.

I think you did a very good job in portraying the birch trees, especially with water colours. The colours are well done, adding the blue I think helped bring out the trees. I tried water colour a few times and found it frustrating for me, job well done.

lisa this is a very cool painting. the tree forms is great. the depth is great. the details is great. the shading is great. the blend of the colors is great. the only thing that kept from awarded this a 5 is because of the presentation. it is crucial that you crop out any excess that is not the artwork. that excess can be distracting for the viewer from your awesome work. still the creation itself is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. creative and good job overall.

thank you,,, So Ive been told about the cropping, the mistake here is I took the photo with my phone, then I went and signed it before I could take a photo with the camera, my bad, the cropping was not done well because of the way I took it with the phone, Oh well.

Hey I have made those mistakes in the past and learned. Just passing on knowledge to a good artist .wink

I love the simplicity of this. It's beautifully done. I am not really a watercolor painter myself. I did oils until I got into digital art but I really do like how this was put together without looking washed out. Just a hint of color in the background helps make the trees pop. Great job.

First of all, this is beautiful. Second of all, how did you get this much individual beauty and detail on a 8x10 surface. The tones and blending of color and detail is outstanding. I feel like I have walked through this scene will out hunting in a birch tree forest. Your detail of the trees, bark and small branches are so good. The hint of light blueish light gives tremendous depth to the scene. Outstanding work.

This is very pretty! Your painting is lovely with beautiful tones of winter and finely depicted details of these bare trees. I like your use of light and shading and the depth that you have created. Well done, best wishes for the contest!
