This is a great way to remember your anniversary celebration as he looks really happy and content. However, because you have cropped it, I think, you can see the pixels in the shot and hence, your husband looks out of focus.
Good luck with it nevertheless

Thanks for reviewing. Perhaps the out of focus happened when I converted it from color to black and white. I am definitely a better artist than a photographer (please see my portfolio.)

First of al, Glena congrats on your anniversary,that said i can,t quite know whats happened to this,i thought it was a painting at first but the out of focus on him spoils what could have a good one,although in saying that i would crop some of the sides,i would maybe have another go at this,don,t want to be negative but its how i see this one...Brian

Thanks for reviewing and your opinion. It is just a snapshot; I used no settings of enhancement in the original take. I hope to be able to take black and white straight from the camera with my better camera when and if I am able to do. I am definitely more professional as an artist than a photographer. I have more trouble with some photography like some on here do with grammar.

This has a painted feel to it. When I first saw this that is what you did was a painting. I like this. It is a whole different look at a portrait. I'm going to try it.

It's a nice portrait view, however I might crop down from the top just a bit.
Your notes indicate that you have cropped this image, it appears that the photo was captured from further away and it was cropped a lot to bring him closer, this has caused a loss of detail and softened the focus. Photographing people is a challenge for me, photographing any subject and then cropping to enlarge will cause a loss of detail,
I'm sorry , but I have to be honest, it's not fair to you for me to tell you that this is well focused or clear .
Please look at Contemplative Portrait by Ellie, that is an excellent example of a black and white portrait .

Thank you, artist friend. I was looking for a black and white image as I had reserved a spot in the contest. The whole of him was taken, I suppose. Then I chose between several images, this one of him. When taken, I had no plans of ever entering it in anything. Perhaps with my newer camera I will be able to take pictures in black and white from the original. I converted this in Photoshop. Another thing, he doesn't act nor look near his age; he was about 77 here (He's older than I, LOL, an outstanding guitarist and mandolinist, but so modest.) I am so much more an artist than photographer; more than one reviewer thought it had a painted feel. I value your support and reviews.

Thank you, artist; I'll try that perhaps. Too, I may have touched it up; converted it in Photoshop. Hopefully, if I am able to do so, you will increase the rating accordingly. Thanks. I am a better artist than photographer and usually have mostly snapped numerous pictures, but hope to use my newer camera more, with settings. Several reviewers thought it had a painted-look portrait.

This is lovely portrait of him, it's slightly pixelated so I'm thinking the crop was from a much bigger photo? I don't think it takes anything away from the photo though and makes it almost looks like a painting - with your skills you should do a painting of it and give it to him for next year's anniversary, I'm sure he'd be thrilled.
