What a superb stop action capture Pat! This colourful Mallard Duck looks amazing against the misty, snowy background. It looks like a painting. Wonderful lighting and composition.

Oh Pat! This is so beautifully captured. The frosty trees and grey skies in the background make this beautiful duck stand out. This birds lovely colors are highlighted naturally.
Clear and concise-
Interesting subject that tells a story all its own. I can hear the quacking and feel the excitement in the air of the Mallards knowing they have free food coming.
Thank you for sharing!

I bet he was mighty relieved your only shooting was ... with a camera Excellent flight capture, Pat! Even if there was no Drake, the image still would have been beautiful . I love the background !

That's a nice photo of the mallard duck, and I like the snowy background with all the trees but for some reason it kind kind of appears like the duck and the trees are 2 sperate entities. Well done

I love this one of yours. The green stands out against the white muted background. Love how you muted the background but yet it still adds dimension to the overall scene. Wonderful work!

This scene has as bit of soft focus which really gives it a feeling of finely painted watercolor. The position in the scene gives Mr. Duck room to fly and continue his attempt to beat the others to the food source. As of Ducks Unlimited, this mallard it a beautiful specimen of his species.

Thank you so much Gary! It was very cold with ice fog, it warmed up a few days ago and I went back and this time it was super foggy .

Very unique shot of a mallard duck. Most times the background is not like yours, making it interesting.
You stopped his motion in midflight with a fast shutter speed. With the low light, that was a good techique.
I see his two orange feet folder against his body like a normal takeoff. I am curious however on what the white appendage is between the orange feet and tail.

Thank you very much Allan, lol I though that someone here would know what that white feather looking thing was, I even asked fish and game , and and it turns out that it was something that got stuck to the duck so I removed t .

You got to the bottom (so to speak) of the mystery, good job! : )

A good looking nature image posted here! Your fine and classical composition captures a wonderful flying moment. Colours, textures and tones are good. Sharpness and exposure are fine. Well taken!
