The piece of art titled "Hat Day" is a vibrant and dynamic acrylic on paper. The use of colors is striking and creates a festive, fantasy-like atmosphere. The abstract nature of the painting adds to the sense of movement and energy, making it an engaging and dynamic piece. The title "Hat Day" adds a playful and whimsical element to the artwork. Overall, this piece is a feast for the eyes and has a great sense of movement and energy, to me at least. It is an imaginative and well-executed work of art that is sure to capture the viewer's attention.
I see the profile of a man smiling and uhm... a humanoid ?? There is a green face of a cat/fox but with human body. What is it ?

What hath Ray Gordon wrought?
There are many hats, broad brimmed Stetson, Bowler, Straw Hats and perhaps a Boston Scaly Cap. These are hats that are meant to be seen.
But I see in this mélange of color and form many hats. In this case hats of remorse, envy, anger, joy and a few of the seven deadly sins.
What I do not see are hats of contentment, peace, belonging and love.
I know they are there. For I have seen only fleeting ghost like shapes of the ones I seek.
A challenging puzzle for my imagination.
The color combination you chose is striking and complex - all the more fodder for my minds eye ... Bob

Hello there, Ray.
I'm going to be the odd man out and say that I'm having a problem with all these abstracts you've been doing. It's not my thing and they're starting to look the same. (To me) My mind is having a problem concentrating on trying to find what you say is there.
I know some people absolutely love that part of abstract art; finding what is hidden.
Whenever I try to do one myself, I end up covering it up. But actually have sold them to certain collectors and cringe because of my own taste.
Thanks for putting up with my review so far!
Nevertheless, as always I enjoy your colors cuz I'm a color girl and love to see them used well. Especially free of turning to mud.
I know you're a wonderful artist and you know we all have our opinions, right? Hehe ð???
I am still a fan, because I know I can learn from you!

I will be honest with you Jewell, I think you are very talented, I love all the work you post. Your paintings are so colorful and appealing and you have an eye for what others will appreciate, just knowing that is a great advantage. You have demonstrated your ability by all the contests you have won. Not only in art but in photography you have an excellent ability to pick a beautiful scene and all with an Iphone my favorite camera, just amazing.
I don't think people understand what abstract art is, yet they refer to things in their own work that they think is abstract. Most of my work isn't abstract, it is abstract fantasy. Abstract art is something that has no connection to reality.
When I post work to the site, because I work in layers, I loose a lot of detail and effects that layering produce, and that isn't something I can't fix. I work with fluorescent colors and that causes problems too. Not everyone cares for abstract or fantasy and that is OK, I just love it because I am creating, like you from my mind. I just find it fascinating. I have done most styles of art and this is where I am right now.

See? I knew you'd help me understand it a little bit. I'd love to see your process.
I am quite new to art and haven't had one art class.
I appreciate you understanding my perspective and communicating more with me.

Jewell any time, I have had many art classes. Any questions, just ask and I will do my best to help you. Ray

This is awesome Ray, up near the top I see a woman wearing a hat with tulips on it, the brim shields her eyes, to the right and just a bit lower, I see a man facing toward the woman he wears a very large hat and he has a big smile on his face giving the impression that he is amused at himself for wearing the hat to this festival. There is also a hat shaped like a beret and this person wears large, dark sunglasses. There appears to be a candle in the center , it is yellow and it's placed in a silver container that is reflecting the light and colors around it. This does feel like a festival , it must be a festival of hats
This is well created , it is fun to study this one!

COOL,my friend!
I'm picking up a nice 'Lovecraft-ian' sort of vibe from this interesting Abstract presentation!
Perhaps 'The Great Old Ones' are having THEIR 'hat day' way out beyond Aldeberan!

Sean, Cthulhu Mythos may be the Lovecraft Universe in question and way beyond the Red Giant. Glad you enjoyed it. Ray

Wonderful and so imaginative presentation of these ladies walking through the town with their best hat on; sometimes to heavy but still piece to show off.
Great colors, details and such creative presentation Ray!

Another fun and interesting art piece. Good choice of colors. I can see multi faces with hats on so I can see how you arrived at your title. Always a pleasure to see your creative and imaginative fun art.

The ladies and their Easter Bonnets strolling down 5th Ave. The street is running North and Southi in the scene. Some of them don't seem especially happy but who knows what is on their minds. The invisibility of the Ladys at first glance becomes very oblivious with a little investigation. The combination of colors and strokes give the scene a sense of movement of the ladies. They seem to appear and disappear from different angles. Fun work.
