It is a beautiful sunset you have pictured here, and I especially like the yellow glow from the sun and how lovely it is reflected in the sea and the wet sand. I totally agree with your wife. Nothing is more lovely together than the sea and a sunset.
The photo is sharp showing clear and well defined details both in the clouds and the incoming waves, and the exposure is perfect.
The tall format is working well, and I think it is a fine balance in the composition. A truly lovely and well taken photo Allan, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Part of the fun of wintering in Florida is the sunsets over the Gulf.
They are always different and exciting. Cloud patterns seem to make the difference each evening.

This is a stunning sunset/afterglow shot. The saturation of the clouds giving the feeling of movement and moodiness.
The reflection on the beach adds a great deal of depth.
