This is a spectacular photo--it doesn't even look real. The glacier looks like it's wrapped in grey velvet, and the colors that 'sandwich' it is striking. Just an outstanding entry.

What a great shot of a glacier from and artistic point of view and also from a scientific point. Most of us flatlanders have never seen a glacier this close up with the amount of detail you have captured.
They are amazingly "craggy" and full of what appears to be earth material.
The color of the sky and reflections are amazing. The dark clouds add intrigue. Wonderful.

What a sunset photo. A winner. Isn't driving on the glacier dangerous? Is it pure ice or dose it have some gravel on it? Where does the road go? Is it just to the end of the glacier and turn back or does it lead to somewhere .

Thanks so much! We didn?t drive into the glacier, we parked and walked to the edge of the lake. There is glacial silt mixed in with the ice, this glacier runs parallel to the highway, Beyond the glacier are mountains so the road in just lead to the glacier but we came out the same way we went in . Sometimes nature is just magnificent, and this photo is telling all about it. The glacier on its own just looks great, but when set against a dramatic looking sunset sky, even more. I like the way the colors from the sky are reflected in the foreground ice.
The photo is of course also pin sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in every part of the glacier together with great textures. The exposure is perfect.
The format and framing is spot on, and it is a very fine flow and balance in the composition. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo Pat, and with an excellent DOF.
